Every year, thousands of children are waiting for transplantation due to kidney failure and die while waiting for a significant portion.
Memorial Hospital Kidney Transplant and Urology Specialist Op. Dr. Dr. Burak Kocak, especially among the most important causes of organ transplantation in pediatric age groups, gave information about urological diseases and treatment methods.
DO NOT LIGHT IN URINARY TRACT INFECTION
Urinary tract infections in children can cause kidney failure. Urinary tract infections, which occur in 7.8% of girls and 1.6% of boys, are among the most important pediatric diseases that should be taken seriously.
The most important causes of organ transplantation in the pediatric age group in Turkey are still urological diseases. This is a really scary picture. Because of the problems in the urinary tract, renal failure problems can be treated at an early stage and the risk of renal failure can be eliminated.
RISK OF FREQUENT REPEAT INFECTIONS
Frequent urinary tract infection in children is not normally acceptable. If the urinary tract infection problem recurs frequently, the underlying causes must be investigated. Because one of every two children with recurrent urinary tract infection has a problem of idrar leakage of urine from the bladder to the kidney ”.
IF UNCURRED THAT TAKES KIDNEY FAILURE
The children in Turkey, the urine collected in the bladder to the kidney is one of the leading causes of kidney failure back toward escape. The presence of this problem in children with recurrent urinary tract infection disease must be investigated. It is not the right approach for patients presenting with a urinary tract infection problem to eliminate any other problem and to perform no other tests. In this respect, if there is a missed urinary tract infection and a urinary leakage problem behind it, it can cause kidney failure in years. If the disease is detected and treated in a timely manner, the problem of kidney failure due to leakage of urine will never occur in these children. Parents should therefore be well informed about this.
HIGH FIRE IS A IMPORTANT SIGNAL!
High fever in children is a problem that must be investigated. Most of the children with high fever who consult a doctor, this problem, upper respiratory tract infection, influenza, cold and evaluated as a simple treatment is applied. Whether the underlying cause of high fever is due to an infection should be fully investigated. If a urinary tract infection is detected, the source of the infection should be identified and treatment planned accordingly. Thus, in the future, the problem of renal failure and consequently dialysis will be eliminated.
URINE LEAKAGE FROM THE BLADDER CAN BE TREATED
In children, bladder collection of urine back to the kidneys is often a problem that can be solved with medication. In some cases, this problem can be resolved with surgical corrections. Therefore, if there is urine leakage, it is possible to diagnose and treat this problem at an early stage and to prevent possible renal losses. Untreated leaks start to damage the kidneys over the years, revealing the problem of renal failure.
DIALYSIS CHILDREN ARE NOT GROWING
Renal failure patients are undergoing dialysis until kidney transplantation occurs. However, dialysis can do 5% of the work of both kidneys of a healthy person. Transplant patients live 3 times longer than dialysis. Therefore, kidney transplantation is the best treatment for kidney patients. In children with chronic renal failure and undergoing dialysis treatment, growth retardation occurs. These children are lagging behind in terms of height growth and weight gain compared to their peers.
The dialysis process has a negative impact on the social development of children. Therefore, kidney transplantation in children is very important not only for the treatment of general health problems but also for their physical and social development. Children who are socially and physically left behind by their peers experience problems with school attendance and often lag behind in their education.
DIALYSIS DOES NOT LIVE CHILDHOOD!
Dialysis children, their childhood can not live as they wish. First of all, like their peers, they cannot eat junk food as they want, and they have to follow a serious diet program.
Staying true to this program is a major problem for children and then for families. In addition, the most natural needs of a child's holiday, play, friendship relations are never normal and healthy like their peers. A successful kidney transplant not only provides children with health, but also makes it easier for children to adapt to society socially, enabling them to have the chance to live their childhood, just like their peers.
